Route map
Each stretch of track is coloured by what the device measured there. Dots are 22120 halts (click one for scheduled vs actual time); numbered pins are the longest dead zones.
Along the route
Distance from Madgaon. Top bands show internet, signal class and train speed (red stopped → green fast, red ticks are stops); the line shows LTE signal strength (RSRP, higher is better).
Internet by train speed
How long the train spent in each speed band, and how often the internet worked at that speed. Switch the map to Train speed to see where it ran fast, slow or stopped.
Stop to stop
Between the 22120 halts: share of each stretch's distance where the internet was working (degraded doesn't count).
Dead zones
Stretches of a minute or more without working internet, longest first. Click one to see it on the map.
How this was measured
- Every 15 seconds, 3 pings were sent to 8.8.8.8 over the mobile connection. Working means all replies arrived within 1 s, degraded means some were lost or slow, not working means none came back or there was no network.
- Signal classes use RSRP: good ≥ −100 dBm, fair −100 to −110 dBm, poor below −110 dBm. Percentages are by distance travelled, not by time, so long halts at stations don't skew them.
- The map and route bands smooth over blips shorter than 1 km and 2 minutes so long stretches read cleanly; all numbers and tables use the raw measurements. Positions inside tunnels (no GPS) are interpolated between the last and next fix. Station locations are approximate. One phone-class antenna inside a steel coach reads lower than a handset by the window; treat it as a lower bound.
